RiverHawks extend contracts for three

03/30/2012 8:53 AM - Loves Park, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks have signed infielders Evan Button and Matt Greener, along with pitcher Theron Minium to one-year contract extensions.

Button, 25, started last season in the American Association playing for the Wichita Wingnuts. After 16 games, and a .333 batting average, Button moved to the Frontier League and played 6 more games for the Gateway Grizzlies before he finished the season playing 30 games for the RiverHawks. Button hit .224 for the RiverHawks with 10 extra-base hits and 11 RBIs.

Greener, 23, enters his third year in the Frontier League and second with the RiverHawks. He hit .296 with five home runs and 43 RBIs. Greener also proved to be a solid option at third base with a .970 fielding percentage.

Left-handed pitcher Theron Minium, 23, will play his second professional season this summer. Minium appeared in seven games for the RiverHawks last season before being injured for the remainder of the season.
